Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge that the land that we gather and perform on is the traditional country and homelands of the Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Peoples of the Bundaberg region. We acknowledge they have walked, cared for, sung, told stories and danced on this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge and respect their spiritual relationship, cultural heritage, beliefs and connection to this land, and it is still important to their descendants of today. We acknowledge the Elders, those here today and those who have passed back into the great dreaming.

"GODSPELL" 1997 | | | | Directed by Shirley Halpin and Jonathan Dunn
Musical Director - Robyn Edgar
"It's different from any role I've played before because most of the audience knowing my lines - they've probably read the book," said Nigel Dick when playing Jesus in the musical Godspell.
Directors Shirley and Jonathan (drama teacher at Gin Gin High) chose the locale of a clothing factory rather than the original downtown New York of the famous 70s production.
Low productivity, dissension and blame among workers are handled in a revolutionary style of gentle sincerity by the New Foreman (Jesus). Politicians (Pharisees) favour Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (Law Of The Prophets) over workplace relationships, fearing loss of power to the New Foreman they decide is dangerous and corrupt.
Customary practice for Godspell casts was to use their own names, derivatives or nicknames and some of our leads chose Nige, Jude, Susan, Lindy-Lou and Fifi. Clearly defined personas included Yes Man, Fence Sitter, Strong Matriarch and Shy Newcomer.
Cast included Lyndall Pratt, Adrian Tait, Jason Sharland, Susan Shaw, Fini Mackenzie, Jinx Atherton. | | | Adrian Tait, Nigel Dick and Jason Sharland | | | | | | | | | | Directors - Jonathon Dunn and Shirley Halpin | | BACK (Lto R): Lyn Greer and ?
