    Update #4 -
    Important Information for SUBSCRIBERS

As you are aware, ‘Mamma Mia’ is currently on-hold, and cast members are eagerly awaiting the time when rehearsals can recommence, and the production can finally be staged.

Sadly, no other productions can start rehearsal either, and it is now obvious that we will not be able to stage all our productions before the end of 2020.

We wish to guarantee all our Subscribers that your current 2020 Subscription will remain current into 2021 – or as long as it takes us to perform the productions you signed up for. Like you – we are also keen to get them up and running and for the Playhouse Theatre to once again be the bustling and vibrant venue we are so passionate about.

    Update #3 -
Important Information for MAMMA MIA Ticket Holders

Due to the ever-evolving developments with the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the interests of public health & safety, all activities at the Playhouse Theatre have temporarily ceased.

At a special meeting on Tuesday 17 March, the management committee of the Bundaberg Players Incorporated made the decision to ‘mothball’ its sell-out production of ‘Mamma Mia’ due to open on Friday March 20. The decision was made in the best interests of patrons and members of the production team. The health and safety of our cast, crew and audiences is our most important priority.

Our organisation wishes to stress that ‘Mamma Mia’ has not been cancelled. Permission has been granted for us to postpone the production to later in the year (dates yet to be decided). All patrons with tickets booked for the original performance dates are automatically guaranteed their seats on the new dates (when decided).

If you have tickets for what would have been opening night (March 20), your ticket will be valid for the new opening night later in the year; matinee tickets will transfer to the newly scheduled matinee performances etc….. The Playhouse Theatre Box Office staff will continue to communicate with you as events unfold and decisions are made. We fully understand that for some patrons any proposed change to performance dates will not be possible and if a refund is sought, please contact the theatre at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it and box office staff (all volunteers) will contact you as soon as possible.

    Update #2 -
Youth Theatre Cancelled for 2020 – will be back in 2021

We regrettably are forced to CANCEL the Youth Theatre performance, Hands of Time. This decision is not an easy one, as we make this with very mixed emotions.

A great deal of work has been implemented to ensure the celebration of 50 years was one that was unique and something, we’d all remember. Because of copyright rules, this show cannot be staged at the Playhouse Theatre, as the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre holds a different copyright licence which allows us to use the songs from various shows.

The Committee has also made the hard decision to completely cancel any Youth Theatre activities for 2020. We understand how frustrating that this news will be, but we must take the health and safety of everyone into consideration. We have also decided to transfer over any 2020 Youth Theatre memberships into 2021. If you wish to continue into 2021, you are automatically into the performance cast, regardless of age. We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to perform in a show.

    Update #1 -
Mamma Mia will live on – later in the year

Bundaberg Players Inc has come to the heart wrenching decision to “mothball” their sell out production of Mamma Mia.

Bundaberg Players’ President Nigel Dick said it was a decision that wasn’t made lightly, but was made in the best interests of members and patrons.

“The health and safety of our cast, crew and audiences is our most important priority,” Nigel said.

“With the current coronavirus pandemic, we have decided to postpone our production of Mamma Mia!. We hope that audiences, especially our subscribers, will understand the difficult decision we have had to make and know we have made it for the very best of reasons – for their safety.”

The Playhouse stage will remain in darkness for at least the next three months.
