UPDATE #6 - PLANS FOR FUTURE PERFORMANCES

    UPDATE # 6 - PLAYHOUSE THEATRE

    ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR FUTURE PERFORMANCES

    OCTOBER 2020

Since temporarily closing the Playhouse Theatre on March 17 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee of the Bundaberg Players Incorporated has been investigating how we can plan for the recommencement of live theatre in Bundaberg. Government health restrictions have made it impossible for us to open our auditorium doors to the large crowds we normally enjoy, so we have had to get creative.

    'MAMMA MIA'

We are incredibly excited to announce that our production of ‘Mamma Mia’ which was to have opened in March 2020, will now be performed in January 2021, but in order to accommodate all those who hold tickets and to adhere to rules regarding social distancing, the production will now be staged at the MONCRIEFF THEATRE. The new performance dates are:

              • Thursday January 21 – 7:30pm

              • Friday January 22 – 7:30pm

              • Saturday January 23 – 2:00pm

              • Saturday January 23 – 7:30pm

              • Thursday January 28 – 7:30pm

              • Friday January 29 – 7:30pm

              • Saturday January 30 – 2:00pm

              • Saturday January 30 – 7:30pm

We guarantee that all patrons with tickets booked for the original performance dates will automatically be provided with tickets for the new dates. Ticket holders will soon be asked to indicate their first and second preference for the new dates but the actual allocation of seats will only take place in early January to ensure we remain compliant with the current COVID-19 government regulations. (Stay tuned for further information about this in coming weeks…)

‘A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM’ to OPEN IN DECEMBER

Our organisation also felt it important to perform a production before the end of the year and are thrilled to announce that the production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ will now be staged for three performances only on Thursday December 3 at 6:00pm, Friday December 4 at 7:30pm and Saturday December 5 at 7:30pm. As it is not possible to stage it at the Playhouse, we are transforming RiverFeast, East Bundaberg into a Shakespearian woodland glade and patrons will be able to enjoy delicious street foods and fully functioning bar facilities. Ticketing processes will be announced in coming weeks, with preferential Subscriber bookings being offered before general sales commence. This is developing into a really exciting project and we hope you will enjoy this unique theatre experience.

    ‘BURPs TO CONTINUE’

We hope you managed to view some of the entertainment offered through our BURP (Bundaberg’s Unique Relaxed Performances) season throughout September. These performances were viewed by small, socially-distanced audiences in our theatre, and by members and friends watching the live stream through our Facebook page. We used this live-streaming event as a learning platform for the possible presentation of other performances in the future, and we are happy to confirm there will now be three more BURPs – Friday 23 October, Friday 27 November and a very special Christmas eve presentation on Thursday 24 December.

Once again, our organisation thanks you for your patience during the past months. We look forward to the day when we can welcome you back to the Playhouse Theatre, but for now – hope you appreciate our efforts to ensure that the “shows can go on”……….

This is a constantly evolving situation and the theatre will continue to post the latest information on our web-site:  www.theplayhousetheatre.org.au .

We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
