   Acknowledgement

of Country

We acknowledge that the land that we gather and perform on is the traditional country and homelands of the Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Peoples of the Bundaberg region.

We acknowledge they have walked, cared for, sung, told stories and danced on this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge and respect their spiritual relationship, cultural heritage, beliefs and connection to this land, and it is still important to their descendants of today.

We acknowledge the Elders, those here today and those who have passed back into the great dreaming.

Youth Theatre 2025 information ...

What is Youth Theatre?

Established in 1971 and driven by an evident need for exciting practical theatre experience for Bundaberg’s young people (aged 10 – 18 years), the Playhouse Theatre runs a once-yearly Youth Theatre program under the stewardship of the organisation’s Youth Theatre Director.

In 2025 the Youth Theatre program commences with an Information and Sign-Up Night held on Wednesday 19th February at 6:30pm. All young people wishing to be a part of Youth Theatre or learn more about the program must be in attendance with a parent/guardian on this night.

What Does the Program Involve?

Youth Theatre at the Playhouse is divided into two ‘Casts’ – the Performance Cast and the Development cast.

     The Performance Cast ($77)

  • Comprised of the older students in the 10-18 age bracket.
  • Members of this cast will perform the Youth Theatre production, 'POPSTARS' , on the Playhouse stage for four performances between the 3rd and 5th of July.
  • For a one-time cost of $77, members of this cast will participate in weekly workshops/rehearsals during School Term 1 commencing on Wednesday 19th February from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. In Term 2, rehearsals will eventually expand to also include Monday nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Wednesday nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm and Sunday afternoons from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Rehearsals will also be held during the first week of the Term 2/3 School Holidays.
  • Activities for this group cease after 5th July 2025.

     The Development Cast ($55)

  • Will be comprised of the younger members in the 10-18 age bracket.
  • Will have members allocated to it immediately following the Information and sign-up night on Wednesday 19th February 2025.
  • Will participate in 10 x weekly workshops during Term 2 ... Wednesday 16th April to Wednesday 18th June 2025. (dates to be confirmed)
  • Will cease activities for the year on Wednesday 18th June 2024. (date to be confirmed)

Further information regarding each Cast, as well as an opportunity to ask questions, will be provided at the Information and Sign-Up Night on Wednesday 19th February.

What if I’m Over 18?

Senior Membership at the Playhouse Theatre entitles members to participate in and/or contribute towards "Senior" Productions facilitated by the organisation. If you are over the age of 18 and would like to participate in Senior Productions, please come to the theatre on a Sunday morning between 10:00am – 12:00pm. Youth Theatre Membership is not the same as Senior Membership.

What is the Organisation’s Commitment?

The Bundaberg Players Incorporated is committed to fostering a love for theatrical production and performance amongst the youth of Bundaberg. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, friendly and welcoming environment where young people can rehearse and perform theatre without fear of harm. The Youth Theatre Director, as well as all members of the Youth Theatre Team, are experienced theatrical educators and all hold a current Working with Children Card (Blue Card) issued by the Queensland Government.

The Bundaberg Players Incorporated holds Public Liability Insurance; however, if a member suffers injury in circumstances where no negligence of the theatre itself exists, the member will have no legal claim against the theatre and must bear the loss personally.  As a volunteer not-for-profit organisation we endeavour to offer membership to all those who wish to join but are always mindful of the number of young people we can safely cater for at the Playhouse Theatre. The number accepted into each Cast is capped in order to provide an appropriate adult-participant ratio.
