Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge that the land that we gather and perform on is the traditional country and homelands of the Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Peoples of the Bundaberg region. We acknowledge they have walked, cared for, sung, told stories and danced on this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge and respect their spiritual relationship, cultural heritage, beliefs and connection to this land, and it is still important to their descendants of today. We acknowledge the Elders, those here today and those who have passed back into the great dreaming.

THE BASTARD COUNTRY was the first show presented in our present auditorium (when actors had to turn around and face the other way). It was officially opened by then Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Sir Gordon Chalk.
It was about a hard working farming family on a property in Outback Australia, owned by a violent domineering father, played by the late Clive Toohey (pictured) An angry Nick Diargos (John Stoutley) takes a job as farm hand, while planning revenge for something that happened in Greece during the war. He also falls in love with the farmer's daughter (Julie Pozzan). Other cast included Graeme Osborne, Geoff Colledge, Peggy Danaher.
Clive Toohey and John Stoutley An accomplished actor, Clive also served as Vice President, directed, and loved writing his string of satirical revues - Revue 73, 74,75, 76 etc | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
