Rebecca Hutchins starred as Dorothy in our Youth Theatre production in 1990 with Marissa Kerr as Toto.

Severely hearing impaired, Marissa relied heavily on facial expressions and visual cues, with thorough knowledge of the script, intense concentration, observation and a good memory.

She said at early rehearsals when others were on script, it was harder to lip-read and know when to bark at the right time. "Once they had scripts down it was easier to tune into the energy, rhythm and facial expressions," she said.
